Insect Pests of Chili
1. Thrips (Scirtothrips dorsalis) & Mite (polyphagotarsonemus latus):-
The larvae and adult suck the sap of leaves, buds, flowers and cause curling of leaves, dropping off flowers.
Control:-
Spray Intrepid 10SC (chlorfenapyr) or Novastar 56EC (Bifenthrin+Abamectin) @ 02ml/Li water at 7-10 days interval.
2. Aphid (Aphis gossypii, Myzus persicae):-
Sucks cell sap from leaves, transmit the viral diseases.
Control:-
Spray Haymidor 70WDG (Imidacloprid) 02gm/10Li or Novastar 56EC (Bifenthrin+Abamectin) @ 02ml/Li water at 7-10 days interval.
3. Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci):-
Sucks cell sap and spread the viral diseases like leaf curl disease. Causes flower dropping off.
Control:-
Spray Haymidor 70WDG (Imidacloprid) 02gm/10Li or Novastar 56EC (Bifenthrin+Abamectin) @ 02ml/Li water at 7-10 days interval.
4. Fruit borer (Helicoverpa armigera):-
Young larvae feed on flower buds and young pod by making a circular hole. A circular hole is noticed at the base of the pedicel. Premature dropping of flower and pods. Fruit turns to white color.
Control:-
1. Spray Regent 50SC (Fipronil) 1.50ml/Li or Hayclaim 5SG (Emamectin benzoate) 01gm/Li or Ripcord 10EC (Cypermethrin) at 5-7 days interval.
2. Setup pheromone trap with Helilure at 15/ha for monitoring.
